O html possui alguns elementos definidos por padrão como margin, estilo de fonte, incorporado nos diferentes browsers. O problema é que esses estilos não segue um padrão, ou seja, para cada browser existe um estilo. Para resolver esse problema utilizamos uma técnica bem conhecida chamada de CSS Reset.
CSS Reset consiste em zerar qualquer tipo de formatação padrão html incorporada nos diferentes browsers. Essa técnica resolve também alguns problema facilitando o desenvolvimento de sites CSS Cross-Browser.
Existem vários códigos CSS Reset, particularmente eu utilizado o CSS Reset de Eric Meyer.

Normalize
Outro CSS Reset muito bom que foi adotado pelo pessoal do Twitter Bootstrap. O projeto Normalize faz que os navegadores tornar todos os elementos de forma mais consistente e em linha com os padrões modernos. Destina-se precisamente aos estilos que precisam ser normalizados.
